A LunchLine Mission

When I was in 8th grade, I experienced a moment that changed my life. I was standing in the
lunch line when I heard the lunch lady tell the kid in front of me, “You don’t have enough money
for lunch, I’m sorry,” and proceeded to take his plate of food away. I went home that day with a
guilty feeling and determined to make a difference. I asked myself, “How can I help fix this
problem? How can I make sure this doesn’t happen again?” That’s when I came up with the
idea of Lunchline Candles—a candle that not only smells good but does good. For each candle
sold, one free lunch is donated to a kid who can’t afford it. Specifically, 27% of our proceeds go
to this cause. This is a huge problem in many places, especially in Texas, and I am determined
to change it with the help of some wax and a jar.

Seeing kids at my school being denied lunch because they didn’t have the money to pay for it
inspired me to start Lunchline Candles. In Texas, many children can’t afford school lunches, and
get denied their lunch. Witnessing this made me want to help and create change.

I’ve always loved making candles, and knowing that by making them I’m doing good makes me
feel even better. With a passion for candle-making and a caring heart, I started creating my own
candles at home. Our candles are crafted to make a difference. There have been lots of ups and
downs, with good scents and lots of bad ones, but in the end, it all pays off. After experimenting
with different scents and designs, I finally perfected two of my favorite scents and just recently
announced the release of my first candle, Pudding Cup.

The scents of our candles are made to bring back the happy memories of going through the
lunch line, getting your food, and sitting down with friends. Unfortunately, many kids don’t have
this experience. That’s why giving back is so important to Lunchline Candles. By donating 27%
of what we earn, I hope to help pay off school lunch debt so more kids can have the meals they
need.

Starting and running a business as a teen entrepreneur isn’t easy. Balancing schoolwork,
extracurriculars, and a business can be challenging. However, over the past months, I’ve
learned how to manage my time and stay focused on my mission to help others. My passion
keeps me going. I also receive tremendous support from my family, friends, and the WIT
community. All of these people have helped me to be able to take my dream and make it a
reality.

I don’t just make candles; I also spread the word about the problem of school lunch debt.
Through social media and my website, I share stories and information, encouraging others to
get involved. I hope to not only raise money and awareness but also inspire other young people
to think about how they can make a difference.

I have big dreams for the future of Lunchline Candles. I plan to create more candles, increase
my sales, and help pay off school lunch debt. Finding motivation can be hard at times, but to
keep myself going, I remember that each candle means one lunch for a kid who needs it.
Knowing this fuels my motivation and confidence to keep going with my business. I envision a
future where no child has to worry about their next meal at school or how much money they
have left in their school bank account. I am committed to being a part of making that happen.

My story shows how one person, no matter how young, can make a huge difference. Lunchline
Candles is more than just a business; it’s a symbol of hope and a call to action. Through my
creativity, kindness, and hard work, I am lighting the way to a better future for many children in
need.

Down below I have examples of the progress I’ve made on my candles.

Although these are only prototypes, It shows the progress I’ve made and the effort I’ve put in to
be able to make my dreams a reality.
